Pre-Bali | The Time is Now

[ New Years Eve 2016 ]  On this night most people are at extravagant parties preparing to ring in the new year with selfie sticks and cocktails in hand or at least what ever is left of the nights indulgences. Tonight, I'm also up into the wee hours of the morning... just deep in transcending thought.

For a while now a notion that ' the time is now" rings through my everyday experiences. I unconsciously write these words damn near every time I touch a pen to paper. What doess that even mean?! The. Time. Is. Now. What about yesterday? What about tomorrow?

I've become increasingly disconnected from the repetition of New York living or better yet of life in general. Commuting, working, shopping, bills, relationships, sex, even eating have become part of a mundane cycle. The things I once craved are doing very little for me. I feel numb; but not the 'fueled by voids of depression' numb, more like... just empty. The difference is, this emptiness makes me want to get moving! It's as if a light is growing within and yearning for a space to expand.

For Years I've had this non-fleeting inclination to travel. I have no solid ideas for when, where or even how I'll accomplish this; considering I live on a commuting New York Artists budget... ie. I ain't got it like that. was modeling between Long Island and Manhattan, and it didn't make much sense to pay for both car insurance and a train pass so I sold my car in early November.

SAVE MONEY: Check!

Over the past few months, I gradually went from my norm of working 2-3 jobs to a maximum of 3 days of work a week on a chosen schedule.

SAVE TIME & ENERGY: CHECK! and CHECK!

Then to make things sweeter, I was finally granted a settlement for a lawsuit I've been long battling.

STACK THAT CHEDDAR: CHECK!

Now it's time to let go of resistance.

It's New Years Day! I booked a one way ticket For 03.03.17 to Mexico City.

[ Mid January 2017 ]

I've continued my routine, barely filled with the excitement or any emotion a one-way plane ticket should bring. As January is passing I'm actually dreading my decision. Partially because Americas politics have caused a drastic depreciation of the Peso to USD or maybe because I've met several native Mexicans who said they wouldn't even go to Mexico but mainly because something about it just doesn't feel right.

[ February 20, 2017

With days of clicking around the web behind me, lord knows how many deep meditations, I've come to book a ticket to Bali, Indonesia.

Why Bali? Well beside my former addiction to Chinese food ( - Please don't cancel me -), I stumbled across the Instagram page of someone called AutumnBlu. In one photo he was meditating by a pool in all white and I started crying uncontrolably. Honestly, I still don't have words to explain the feeling, aside from the fact that something about it felt right on a soul level. He answered a few of my questions and our interaction ended. Then over the coming weeks Bali started following me. It has showed up in emails, in ads, on you tube. Whether it was coincidence, algorithms, or something more... who knows.

What I do know is that every time I saw it, that same feeling came back. So I booked the ticket.

As of Now a 28 hour flight and world totally unknown are only a month away.
